On September 12, 2025, several lab members participated in the EPIC Centre Scientific Retreat at the Montreal Heart Institute. This annual event was a great opportunity to share our work with other research teams and foster new collaborations.

Our presentations

The LPEBA team was well represented with five presentations covering our main research areas:

Jonathan Tremblay kicked things off with an overview of the Laboratory of Exercise Physiology and Applied Bioenergetics, presenting our research directions and ongoing projects.

Marc-Étienne Villeneuve presented his work on acute and chronic adaptations to eccentric cycling, exploring the effects on endurance performance and energy metabolism.

Jérémy Briand discussed bioenergetic modeling and how to leverage field data to better understand exercise physiology.

Philippe Parent presented his research on maple syrup dosage and its impact on endurance cycling performance, analyzing the dose-response relationship of this natural carbohydrate source.

Laurine Guyot, a research intern in our lab from the Université de Clermont-Auvergne (France), wrapped up our presentations with her work on exogenous substrate oxidation during prolonged exercise, combining indirect calorimetry and isotopic tracing methods.

A great day of exchange

It was an excellent opportunity to connect with our colleagues at the EPIC Centre and learn about the exciting projects underway. Thanks to the organizers for this enriching event!
